Jo May – Spoons Workshop

We are pleased that outstanding percussionist Jo May will be returning to the London Folk Festival for the seventh time to host one of her popular and in demand Spoons workshops, please arrive promptly to join in.

Jo has a particular passion for spoon playing and is keen to pass it on to others!

Jo provides an assortment of metal, wooden, plastic and joined-up spoons (for younger participants) and she teaches a variety of techniques and rhythms, often incorporating songs and body percussion too.

TAoES Scots Song Workshop

Let Anna MacDonald lead you on a journey through time with Scots Songs of love, deceit, mystery and just down right silliness. You will learn Traditional songs in the Scots tounge learned and passed on through Aural Traditional as well as songs from the illustrious Robert Burns. The sessions are suitable for singers of all levels of ability and experience. There is no requirement to sight-read, as all music will be taught at a pace which allows you to learn songs by ear.

TAoES Scottish Step Dance Workshop

Come and try a tradition originating from Scotland with close ties to Cape Breton. Scottish Stepdancing is close-to-the-floor rhythmic Scottish dancing. In this come and try session with Ainsley Hamill, you will learn key percussive steps as a group, that can be later used as building blocks for your own choreography and style. This class is open to all ages and levels. Come and learn the party trick of a lifetime. For maximum enjoyment, ideally wear hard-soled shoes, brogues or trainers.
